In late 2016 I was approached by Inese Andersone who invited me to participate as a mentor in a program established for companies new in export markets. Since I’ve been working with Inese and I have been a frequent lector on seminars and training organised by Gateway & Partners, in spirit of Richard Branson I agreed without hesitation despite lack of experience in mentoring.
If someone offers you an amazing opportunity and you’re not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later.
Sir Richard Branson
Mentoring sessions that I’ve spent with companies, I hope were helpful to them, but sure they were invaluable to me. In meeting and talking to people with various backgrounds I was able to broaden my experience in areas of sales and exports.
After end of program I kept thinking , what are the main areas where I have expertise and how I can pass it on to Latvian companies to help them improve on sales results and exports.
For last 10 years I’ve been working in several Latvian companies who has reached excellent results in exports and were recognised by getting awards in Red Jackets export programme and I’ve been involved and directly responsible for improving on sales processes in those companies to create a systems that would lead to sustainable results in long term. I’ve built my fundament in sales processes while working with Hewlett Packard and it has become an area of my interest since then leading to reading and learning about different approaches, mainly in B2B area.
Participation in mentoring program has lead me to believe that sales process formalisation is one of the untapped areas for small and medium enterprises in Latvia that is necessary to provide qualitative and quantitative leap in sales and exports!
